1.  Horrible Science author Nick Arnold is not a scientist. As a horrible child Nick was far more interested in writing horrible stories. It was only years later when he began to write Horrible Science that he found out that Science is just as horrible as history.

2.  Nick Arnold lives in a haunted house. The house in question is a big old house on the coast of Devon.

3.  Nick Arnold was the first British children's author to tour China. Nick loves Chinese food and being a horrible person Nick wasn't afraid to try traditional Chinese delicacies such as duck's tongues and pig's trotters!

4.  Nick Arnold once broke his arm during a Horrible Science presentation in a bookshop. The accident happened when Nick fell off a table whilst setting up an experiment just before 60 children entered the shop to see Nick in action! Although in great pain Nick staged a full show and even signed books and autographs for the young fans afterwards (he had broken his left arm).

5. Nick Arnold has presented hundreds of Horrible Science events in Britain and Europe in every kind of venue you can imagine. One of the highlights was in Mantua where Nick presented six sell-out shows to audiences to several hundred in a big-top tent. At the final show fistfights broke out between people desperate to get in to see the show!

6. Nick Arnold has set up a writer's group to encourage aspiring authors in North Devon. The group currently has over 20 members.

7.  Despite his heavy schedules of events Nick has only once forgotten to turn up an event. He realised something was wrong when he was enjoying a lie-in.!

8. Nick Arnold is slightly related to the royal family of Bavaria, Germany.

9. Nick is probably the only person to have played a vacuum cleaner live on Irish television. Nick was promoting his book Sounds Dreadful. And it did sound dreadful too!

10.  Nick Arnold never suffers from writer's cramp. This ability is probably related to the fact that he holds his pen in a strange way!
